From today, eligible local not-for-profit groups can apply for one of 15 grants, each $2,000, through the 2025 Peppercorn Hill Community Fund.
Each year the funding provided to recipients helps make wonderful local projects and programs possible.
One of the successful 2024 Peppercorn Hill Community Fund recipients was Second Chance Animal Rescue in Craigieburn.
Founder and CEO, Marisa Debattista, said they were able to support more families and pets than ever before during difficult times.
“We used the 2024 Community Fund grant to strengthen and expand our SAFE House for Pets program, which provides emergency boarding and care for pets when their owners are facing crisis situations, such as family violence, homelessness, or hospitalisation.
“The funding allowed us to cover veterinary care, food, shelter, and behavioural support for animals in the program, ensuring they stayed safe and healthy while their owners got back on their feet.
“Thanks to the grant, we were able to support more families than ever before, helping them stay connected with their pets during incredibly difficult times.
“This program is often the difference between someone being able to seek help or not, knowing their beloved pet will be cared for means they don’t have to make the heartbreaking choice between safety and staying together.

The Community Fund initiative was inspired by the vision of Dennis Family Corporation Founder, Bert Dennis, as a way of giving back to the communities that the company creates.
To date, over $1.2 million has been distributed across Dennis Family Corporation’s residential estates in Melbourne and Queensland since the concept was introduced in the early 2000s.
