There were smiles all round last week when 20 delighted community and not-for-profit groups from Donnybrook and the surrounding area received grants totalling $30,000 at the 2024 Peppercorn Hill Community Fund presentation evening.
An annual initiative of Dennis Family Corporation, the developer of Peppercorn Hill estate, this is the third year the Fund has been up and running and saw a 20% increase in the number of applications received.
This year’s presentation evening was held at the Peppercorn Hill Land Sales Centre in Woodstock, with Melissa Munro, Dennis Family Corporation Marketing Manager, on hand to congratulate each of the successful organisations.
Eligibility for the $1,500 grants extended to not-for-profit groups operating in and around Donnybrook, Woodstock, Wollert, Craigieburn and other surrounding suburbs.
Numbering amongst this year’s successful applicants was the Craigieburn-based Second Chance Animal Rescue. For the organisation’s Marisa Debattista, the $1,500 grant will prove invaluable in terms of supporting the Group’s animal rescue work.
“As Second Chance Animal Rescue is run entirely by volunteers and funded solely by donations and fundraising, one of the biggest challenges we face is ensuring that we have enough funding to continue providing free emergency boarding, pet food and other support for people who suddenly find themselves unable to care for their pets for any range of reasons from escaping domestic violence or homelessness.”
She continues, “The other challenge we have is raising community awareness about the critical work we do. At any one point in time, we might typically find ourselves looking after upwards of 130 animals! So, contributions like the generous grant from Dennis Family Corporation are vital and provide us with much needed funds to continue making this possible and we can’t thank the Dennis Family Corporation enough for helping us make this a reality.”
The Dennis Family Corporation has successfully operated Community Funds across its residential estates both in Victoria and Southeast Queensland since 2002. To date, it has distributed more than $1 million in grants, providing much needed financial support to hundreds of local not-for-profit groups and organisations along the way.
Says Dennis Family Corporation Marketing Manager, Melissa Munro, “Our Community Fund program is an opportunity for our business to contribute to support local groups that foster positive change within the communities where we operate. The Peppercorn Hill Community Fund is not just about financial assistance; it's about building a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Whether organisations have a new project in mind or need support to continue an existing initiative, the Peppercorn Hill Community Fund offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact.”
